Dorset Holiday Cottages: FAQs

Everything you need to know about booking a self-catering holiday cottage in Dorset.

Yes. Booking direct with us saves up to 20% compared with booking the same property through a third party site, because there is no additional commission built into the price. You also chat with our team throughout, which makes it easier to ask about the property, arrange arrival details or adjust anything before you travel.

Our Dorset properties are concentrated in West Dorset, centred on Lyme Regis and the surrounding villages and countryside, with the Jurassic Coast on the doorstep. That gives you a choice between seaside properties within walking distance of the beach and quieter inland cottages with more space and parking, all within easy reach of the coast. You can also see all of the areas we cover.

Our Dorset cottages are fully equipped for self catering, with a kitchen, bathroom and living space ready to use on arrival. Bed linen and towels are included as standard at every property, with one bath towel and one hand towel per person, along with a consumable pack containing at least one toilet roll per bathroom, a washing up liquid, cleaning products and soap in every bathroom. Many properties also include gardens, parking, patios or wood burners, and full details are set out in our booking terms and conditions.

A large proportion of them are. Use the pets filter to see the Dorset cottages that welcome dogs, including how many dogs each property accepts, or browse our dog friendly collection in full. These properties suit coast path walks and inland countryside trails, and demand is high in school holidays, so we recommend searching your dates early if you are travelling with a dog.

You can search on these directly. Our filters cover pool and hot tub, garden, patio or decking, balcony, parking, EV charger, sea view and countryside view, so you can build a shortlist around the features that matter most to you. Browse all of our collections to see what is available. Specialist features such as hot tubs and EV charging are limited, so filter early in your search.

Search by town and then set the distance filter, which lets you narrow results to within one, three, five, ten or fifteen miles of your chosen location. Combining this with our sea view cottages is the quickest way to find properties genuinely close to the coast rather than simply within the wider area.

Yes. Our Dorset collection includes houses sleeping ten or more as well as smaller cottages and apartments for couples. Filter by number of guests, bedrooms and bathrooms, or view our family and group sized cottages together. For bigger parties it is worth looking at two nearby properties booked together. Larger cottages are limited in number and book furthest ahead.

For summer, school holidays and bank holidays we recommend booking as early as possible, often six to twelve months ahead for the most popular coastal properties, larger houses and anything with sea views. Outside those periods there is far more flexibility and short notice availability is usually good.
