Location
Axmouth is an attractive, historic village nestled in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Situated along the Axe Estuary—just one mile inland from the sea and right next to the seaside town of Seaton—it sits on the stretch of the Devon coastline known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site. Architecturally, the village is a postcard-perfect scene of listed buildings, pretty stone masonry, and traditional thatched-roof cottages. It effectively blends a rich, quiet rural heritage with a lively maritime edge where the River Axe meets the sea.
Situated within the South West path there are numerous walks available and the towns of Seaton and Lyme Regis a few miles in either direction. Axmouth also boasts two highly regarded, characterful pubs serving hearty food and local ales: The Ship Inn (a beautiful thatched building opposite the church) and The Harbour Inn.
